Time again to pack up the coffee mug and head home for the weekend. While you’re shuffling kids into the car for that nice long road trip to a relative’s house you’re not that fond of anyway, or stuffing your face with far too much honey-glazed ham, we know you won’t be far from your mobile device of choice. That’s why as always we thought we’d take this chance to send you into the weekend by taking a look back at some of our favorite developments in the mobile world from the past week.

• The stats about the mobile web continue to astound us, and this week two pretty major landmarks were reached. For the first time ever, half of all American cell phone owners are now using smartphones. Not to be outdone, our friends across the ocean to the east reached their own pinnacle as the number of mobile phone users in China reached one billion.
• Facebook has made a commitment to the mobile platform over the last year, and that commitment took another step forward this week when Facebook officially open-sourced its mobile web app test suite Ringmark.
• We love April Fools Day. I mean how often do you get to blatantly lie to the world with absolutely no reprecussions (insert joke about politician of choice). We played a little joke of our own, and we had fun perusing some hilarious and genius gags from around the web.
• While the Mobile World Congress may be a few weeks behind us, this week the folks from J. Walter Thompson (JWT) put out an awesome comprehensive report on 15 ways the mobile developments from MWC will change the world.
• It’s official, flying cars are a thing now. Need we really say more?
